Hair loss is a common problem faced by both men and women. In advanced stages, it can lead to some serious concerns such as baldness or receding hairlines. The lack of hair can sometimes result in a lack of confidence and it may hamper the self-esteem of many people. A hair transplant surgery offers a permanent solution to baldness.

The rising demand for hair restoration treatments has created a need for comprehensive and organized hair transplant training courses. People are looking for certified and skilled hair transplant surgeons. At IICSAM, we identify this problem and aim to fill this gap.

At the International Institute of Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine (IICSAM), you can enrol for our Hands-on Certificate Training Course in FUE & FUT Hair Transplant techniques. It is a three-month long offline course for hair transplant training in India. In the end, there are also three days of live demos with real patients. Participants get a chance to increase their knowledge as well as improve their practical skills.

What is a Hair Transplant?

A hair transplant is a cosmetic surgery procedure. It is an advanced treatment for hair restoration. The surgery is performed under the effects of local anaesthesia. During the procedure, hair follicles are collected from the healthy part of the scalp and then transplanted to the balding spots. Gradually, after 3-4 months of the procedure, these transplanted follicles start showing signs of hair growth. This gives coverage to the blading areas and restores your natural hairline.

A hair transplant surgery can be divided into two phases. Firstly, the extraction of hair follicles and secondly, the implantation of the follicles. The follicles are removed from the donor area of the scalp. This usually means the sides or the back of the scalp. In special cases, hair can also be collected from other parts of the body such as beard, chest, arms, legs, etc. The hair follicles are implanted into the recipient site, meaning your balding areas.

When you enrol for hair transplant training courses, you get a chance to learn about the two different techniques for hair transplantation. At IICSAM, you learn under the guidance of Dr. Satya Saraswat and Dr. Preeti Saraswat. Both are Diplomates from the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS). They have over 19 years of experience and can perform all sorts of hair transplant surgeries.

FUE Hair Transplant

FUE means Follicular Unit Extraction or Follicular Unit Excision method. In this type of procedure, hair follicles are extracted directly from the scalp. The surgeon uses a low-torque, low-RPM specialised tool to carefully remove each follicle.  A group of 1 to 4 follicular units are collected together to make a hair graft.

After the extraction is complete, tiny channels are made into the recipient area of the scalp. The hair grafts are implanted inside these individual channels to complete the hair transplantation process. No cuts or stitches are done. There is very minimal scarring involved. And the recovery is very quick.

FUT Hair Transplant

FUT means Follicular Unit Transplantation method. In this kind of procedure, a strip of skin containing healthy follicles is removed from the back of the head. A surgical cut is made and stiches are required to close the wound. The strip of skin is then placed under the microscope and follicular units are collected to make the hair grafts.

The implantation process of the follicles is the same as used in FUE. In this procedure, the recovery is longer as the stitches need time to heal. It also results in a long linear scar. But once hair grows back, it gets easily covered.

Conclusion

Both FUE and FUT are vital processes in a hair restoration treatment. One is not better than the other. When you join the course for a hair transplant training in India at IICSAM, you get a chance to learn more about the FUE and FUT techniques. The curriculum also covers topics like graft handling, graft storage, hairline designing, post-operative instructions, and more.
